There are so many facets to preparing a child for school, but the easiest way to get children to acquire the foundational skills that underpin reading, writing, and mathematical literacy, is play.

She says it is not only through books and computers.

Children are multi-sensory, they are human beings, and they acquire knowledge and experience through all their senses.

They need to experience with their entire physical body.

She recommends the 'pyramid of play' is a stacking game where wooden cubes are stacked on on top of the other, as well as nested inside one another.

This helps children learn shape, colour, problem-solving and much more.

It helps develop both concrete and abstract thinking.
