I have no formal relationship with the Gupta Family - ANCYL President
A series of emails between members of the Gupta family, their employees and Duduzane Zuma were released on Sunday.
The emails appear to show how members of the family were communicating directly with cabinet ministers. In one of the email trails the former CEO of Oakbay Investments, Nazeem Howa suggests that he should help the leader of the ANC youth League Collen Maine deal with media queries.
Collen Maine, President of The African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) says he saw the Sunday paper reports for the first time on Sunday and calls the allegations 'utter rubbish'.
I was supposed to be asked by the newspaper that published the story.Collen Maine, President of The African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL)
Maine tells The Midday Report's, Stephen Grootes that he has the ANCYL's media team to assist and deal with any media training.
People can access my emails and check if there has ever been any communication between myself, the Gupta family members and Nazeem Howa.Collen Maine, President of The African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL)
Maine says he has no formal relationship with the Gupta family.
If they were to invite me, for instance to the South African of the Year, that I would attend, just like I'd attend the South African Music Awards.Collen Maine, President of The African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL)
Maine also refutes claims that the Gupta family helped him buy his house, admitting that his salary alone would enable him to pay his bond and adds that he won't go any further to divulge his other business interests and sources of income.
