Gender violence in the Spotlight

Abuse survivor Mpho thanks 702 for helping her

Mpho, a Johannesburg woman called into Xolani's show earlier this month to relay how a judge at Roodepoort Magistrate's Court dismissed her fear of returning home to her abusive partner, saying "he is not a psychiatrist, he can't solve my problem".

She obtained a restraining order after her partner hit her in December, and explained to Xolani how the same judge told her it was a civil matter.
