Minister of Public Enterprises, Lynne Brown, told Scopa (Standing Committee on Public Accounts) in Parliament on Tuesday that she wants Eskom procurement deals from 2007, including Tegeta, to be probed by the SIU.
Former SIU member, now lead forensic scientist at FDIR Labs, Jason Jordaan, says the specialised unit takes instruction from the state President. This raises questions on an obvious conflict of interest, as President Jacob Zuma's son, Duduzane Zuma has a stake in Tegeta.
A Minister can refer a matter to the SIU. The SIU then consults with the Justice Department but it's up to the President to sign this proclamation.— Jason Jordaan, FDIR Labs
The SIU has never been a truly independent body because of how this proclamation is set up...— Jason Jordaan, FDIR Labs
