Metrorail has confirmed one person has died after two trains collided in Elandsfontein on Thursday morning.
The train service says the coach was en route to Johannesburg when the incident occurred.
50 people have been injured.
Metrorail's Tony Games says train services operating between Pretoria and Johannesburg have been suspended while technicians work on the lanes.
Alternative transport will be provided to stranded commuters.
