BLSA calls on Mogoeng Mogoeng to decide on state capture commission chair

Business Leadership South Africa says it still wants the judicial commission of inquiry into state capture to continue but that it wants Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng to decide which judge should chair that commission.

BLSA deputy chairman, Bonang Mohale, says Mogoeng Mogoeng should be the one that determines the terms of reference to avoid President Jacob Zuma being the accused, judge, executioner and the determinant of the agenda.

The President is the protagonist and the centre stage of the state capture report. How then, being the one that is implicated, can one choose the judge that is going to oversee your own crucifixion...

This is exactly the same situation that we have where the president of the ANC chairs the NEC and somehow we hope that people will garner enough confidence to express a motion of no confidence in the same president who is chairing the meeting.

Mohale condemned Gwede Mantashe's comment that the commission of inquiry should include an investigation of all business influence on state owned institutions since 1994, saying it is the reason why all inquiries are never concluded.
