Sdumo Dlamini told to shape up or ship out at Cosatu central committee meeting

Sdumo Dlamini, president of The Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) has been criticised by some in the federation at its central committee meeting this Thursday.

The criticism is for not properly defending the organisation's decision that President Jacob Zuma should step down.

EWN Reporter Clement Manyathela says the National Union of Mineworkers (Num) sent a strong warning to Dlamini to shape up or ship out.

Dlamini was told to rally behind the decisions taken by the federation with the same energy he used to tell President Zuma that the workers are fully behind him.

He's been avoiding singing songs that are anti-Zuma and praise deputy president, Cyril Ramaphosa.

Manyathela adds that the minister of sport and deputy chair of the South African Communist Party (SACP) Thulas Nxesi, suggested that the African National Congress could be headed for a split if it becomes reckless and approaches its December elective conference divided.
