A new railway line on the cards between Khayelitsha and Kuilsriver

The City of Cape Town has announced plans to develop a new railway line that will connect Khayelitsha and Kuilsriver.

According to Mayco member for Transport, Brett Herron, Passenger Rail agency of South Africa (Prasa) is committing about R5 billion over the next few years to build the railway line and three new stations in what is called the Blue Downs Railing.

Part of our Transit Development strategy is to identify transport corridors and transport modes and to make sure that the land use rights are correct in those areas and encourage mix use development so that there can be commercial, industrial as well as residential developments in good locations.
