Register to be a bone marrow donor and help 3-year old Raqeeb

Zaida Palm's son Raqeeb was diagnosed with a condition called Aplastic Anaemia (bone marrow failure).

Raqeeb who is will turn 4 in July has found no bone marrow match in South Africa and his medical aid is not willing to find him a match anywhere else.

Zaida called the Kieno Kammies Show to plead with listeners to sign up and become bone marrow donors

This is a simple process which can save somebody's life...

Zaida Palm, Raqeeb's mom

She says they are currently raising funds via BackaBuddy to find a match outside the country. So far she has managed to raise just over R100 000 but the target is R200 000.

Gary from Edgemead spoke to Kieno Kammies about being a bone marrow donor and how painless the process is. He was found to be a suitable match when his brother required such a transplant and he volunteered to help. He encourages everyone to register to be a donor.

To contribute and help Raqeeb get a donor go to BackaBuddy website.
