'Deep Blue: Middle C': A film about the ocean, a celebration of the west coast

Broadcasting live from the 19th year of Encounters, the largest and most important Documentary Film Festival in Africa, CapeTalk's, John Maytham spoke with Bryan Little, acclaimed filmmaker.

Little has been making movies for about 15 years and surfing for over 20.

His latest project, titled, 'Deep Blue Middle C' has been described as: a psychedelic surf film emerges from the Elands Bay dustbowl like an LED-encrusted crayfish.

The actual film is about the ocean and a celebration of the west coast.

Bryan Little, Director

Little says the genesis of the project was to gather his friends who are all lovers of the ocean to spend 10 days and nights at a camp site where they surfed, created artworks and worked with the local community in what is fundamentally a celebration of that coast and ocean.

Most of his friends are nature conservationists who share his passion and love for the ocean and nature.

He says prior to creating 'Deep Blue Middle C' he had never taken a shot of the ocean, saying the ocean for him, was a sacred place.
