Lovers of thought-provoking film will be delighted to hear that the Encounters South African International Documentary Film Festival is back.
In its 19th year, the festival is set to keep cinephiles engaged with gripping stories and cinematography from 1 - 11 June 2017 at Cinema Nouveau and The Labia in Cape Town.
Sabaah Folayan, an activist and storyteller born and raised in South Central LA produced 'Whose Streets?' an outstanding documentary about the shooting of Michael Brown, by American police.

Folayan says her project was aimed at setting the record straight and correcting the inaccurate characterisations made by the media.
It wasn't helping that they focused on the looting and rioting while ignoring the tension and poor urban planning, she adds.
