Lucy Witts confronts her stepfather abuser in her Dragan’s Lair film

In its 19th year, the Encounters South African International Documentary Film Festival is set to keep cinephiles engaged with gripping stories and cinematography from 1 - 11 June 2017 at Cinema Nouveau and The Labia in Cape Town.

CapeTalk's, John Maytham first encountered, film maker, Lucy Witts on the 27th of May 2016. Witts called in to Maytham's show to tell her story of experiencing sexual abuse during her childhood, by her stepfather. Witts was sexually abused for a decade.

Her documentary, Dragan’s Lair, where details her violent childhood will be screening at the Encounters film festival. Her stepfather had re-offended and allegedly molested 4 girls under 10 after Witts.

He's still awaiting trial in Namibia and has been out on bail for three years.

Dragan’s Lair is a Documentary which, guided by Cape Talk radio host John Maytham, takes the viewer on a journey of Dragan’s grooming of a very young Lucy, her family, including sister Sophy and mum, Virginia.

The movie can be seen on these dates Sunday 4 June at 15:00 and Wednesday 5 june at 18:45
