Mapaila: I have not been bought and Zuma's defenders are the true betrayers

The SACP's Solly Mapaila says it is pathetic that ANC leaders have denigrated the debate about President Jacob Zuma's leadership.

This comes after comments by Arts and Culture Minister Nathi Mthethwa claiming that Zuma detractors within the ANC are "like Judas Iscariot".

Mthethwa said that people who have been vocally critical of Zuma had been bought.

Mapaila says that Zuma is the main person who has been bought, along with several other Cabinet ministers.

Zuma has been living on the proceeds together with Guptas and his family. Those are the people who have been bought. Not us. I have not been bought by anybody.

Mapaila says the same ANC leaders who are attempting to shift the debate are the same individuals who have betrayed the values of the ANC.

They've been going on, destroying the legacy of the movement. These are the people that are actually the Judas Iscariot.

Solly Mapaila, SACP deputy general-secretary

This is abuse of leadership positions.. to go to this particular level.

Solly Mapaila, SACP deputy general-secretary

The primary threat to our movement today is parasitic bourgeois like the Guptas. Those are the people that have bought the ANC which is now controlled by factions.

Mapaila says the ANC NEC is no longer able to lead and also criticised the factionalised MKMVA elective conference which took place in Boksburg at the weekend.
