EWN reveals how notorious Gupta lawyer denies involvement in money laundering

In an exclusive report by Eye Witness News, it is revealed that the infamous Gupta lawyer Gert van der Merwe is seeking indemnity in a R16 million fraud and corruption trial.

According to EWN reporter Barry Bateman, Van der Merwe is a state witness in a case involving former Limpopo Health MEC Miriam Segabutla and businessman Johnny Lucas. Segabutla is accused of corruption and taking kickbacks from the businessman to secure tenders in 2010.

Gert van der Merwe was subcontracted to do particular work related to forensic audit which was subject of this particular tender. But then he started facilitating payments, personal payments from Lucas to Segabutla through his attorney trust account.

He provides specific details of how he accepted the cash into his trust account and forwarded to either settle the MEC's daughters school fees....He then writes how he committed a bag of R100 000 cash to the MEC in a hotel room.
