Eskom spokesperson says Ngubane resigned for "personal reasons"

Eskom board spokesperson Khulani Qoma tells Xolani Gwala that late on Monday night Dr Ben Ngubane told him he was resigning as board chair due to personal reasons. The announcement was made by Public Enterprises Minister, Lynne Brown.

This comes as Minister of Public Enterprises, Lynne Brown, said the up coming AGM would see a rotation and removal of non-performing members and as the SIU and the Hawks begin probes into the parastatal and days before Parliament's enquiry.

Referring to Ngubane's resignation, Qoma said:

I don't know what the real facts are until we have a real process...

Financial Mail deputy editor, Sikhonathi Mantshantsha weighed in asking what took Ngubani so long as he was never fit to hold his position.

Ngubane should never have been there in the first place. There has been a lot of criminality under his watch.
