EOH youth job creation challenge sees 110 youth recruited into Imperial Motors

Imperial Motors is one of many corporates that have partnered with EOH, a pioneering youth job creation initiative that has utilised funding from the Services SETA to create learnerships for over 100 young people.

The Cadet Programme, a flagship programme for Imperial Motors, is a 12-month internship aimed at developing entry level talent for dealerships. The automotive industry is one of the largest manufacturing industries, contributing 7.2% to the country’s GDP.

Simo Mvinjelwa, transformation manager at Imperial Motors Johannesburg says they have revamped the programme to make it more effective.

Not only do these guys get exposed to sales but they get exposed to financial components, insurance, workshops, to every aspect of how our dealership operates.

Simo Mvinjelwa, Transformation Manager at Imperial Motors Johannesburg

As Imperial we are facing quite a bit of challenges in increasing our transformation as would many of the other companies in South Africa, so we are using this as a platform to develop future dealer principals, portfolio managers, sales mangers within our business.

Simo Mvinjelwa, Transformation Manager at Imperial Motors Johannesburg

We have a strategic intent and our CEO is very focused and involved in the programme, he holds various breakfast sessions on a bi-monthly basis with the cadets themselves.
