AFDA school developing creative collaborators

AFDA - The School for the Creative Economy, has come a long way helping creative youth their mark in the industry.

AFDA was started in 1994 with just 6 students and a rented VCR machine.

Now the Cape Town campus has over 600 students, the Johannesburg campus over 1000, in addition to campuses in Durban, Port Elizabeth, and Botswana.

AFDA's Cape Town campus Dean Gina Bonmarriage says there has been an increase in the demand for creative industries.

The owners of AFDA have always wanted to grow and ensure that this kind of education is readily available to a broader spectrum of young people.

Bonmarriage says AFDA focuses on integrating technology, talent and tolerance in their 9 accredited programmes.

She advises that 90% of graduates get employment in their field of study, with others creating their own job opportunities.

Bonmarriage explained how AFDA has re-positioned itself and how AFDA's acquisition by private education group Curro Holdings has affected learning.
