The 702 Truck of Love with SPAR 2017

Elders at Alpha World Social Centre feel the spirit of love

Azania Mosaka joined the Truck of Love with Spar as it made a special delivery to an elderly day care called Alpha World Social Centre in Protea North Soweto. Gifts ranging from food essentials, a stove and washing machine were given to uplift the center’s spirit for its astounding initiative.

The centre was founded by Maureen Sibadela who thought it would be great to create a place where senior citizens who have been neglected and emotionally abused in their families would be taken care of.

The non-profit organisation also has a home-based care program which caters for seventy-four elderly and 220 community members who attend on a weekly basis. The center is there to not only provide these elderly people social experience but to encourage them to live vigorously through healthy foods and exercises.

The recipients were so overwhelmed with excitement that they started to sing and dance. One of them saying that this was the only way they know to thank 702 and Spar for the gifts.

Mrs Sibadela could not hold back her tears as she opened the truck and saw what was inside, she kept on saying “Thank you 702 and Spar you all are amazing, I will never forget this day.”
