Plane crash survivor gets a huge nod from Simon Cowell on America's Got Talent

Kechi Okwuchi become a plane crash survivor when she was only sixteen.

Okwuchi suffered 65% burns to her body, after the plane she was traveling in from Abuja to Port Harcourt, crash-landed at the Port Harcourt International Airport claiming the lives of 107 people.

Okwuchi was one of two survivors. Five weeks after the plane crash. Okwuchi woke up to find herself hospitalised at Netcare Milpark Hospital.

Okwuchi has now made international headlines after she auditioned for US reality TV show America’s Got Talent. Her audition wowed the judges with her enthralling performance securing her move to the next round of the competition.

Since her global appearance on the popular show, the medical team Netcare Milpark Hospital burns unit has sent a heartfelt message to the young lady wishing her the best of luck for the competition.

Prof. Frank Plani is the Head of the Trauma Directorate of the Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital and was one of the doctors that treated Okwuchi at Netcare Milpark Hospital.

We were expecting even more survivors.

Plani says considering the trauma and explosions from the plane it is a miracle that Okwuchi survived. He goes on to say that Okwuchi spent seven months in their care, undoing extensive medical care.

One can only admire Kechi for all her tenacity and her achievements. I'm really pleased for her.
