Update: Former athlete receiving help from Ombudsman after housing issues

27 June 2017 6:08 PM

Ombudsman for Community Schemes, Themba Mthethwa has stepped in to help Thulani Sibisi secure occupation to his house.

Former Team SA Olympic coach and marathon winner, Thulani Sibisi called into The Redi Tlhabi Show a few weeks ago, saying he has been robbed of his home despite having all the papers to prove ownership.

Sibisi is in stage 3 of prostate cancer.

After Sibisi was on the air, the Ombudsman for Community Schemes, Themba Mthethwa, called Tlhabi's producers, promising to take up his case. The Ombudsman was appointed by Minister of Human Settlements, Lindiwie Sisulu, to mediate any issues associated with housing.

Sibisi says that Mthethwa did get in touch with him, as well as the local police in his area. They have both prioritised his case. He has been given a court date for his case to be heard, on 7 July.
