No injuries sustained during fire outbreak at Gauteng Premier's office

A fire broke out in the offices Gauteng Provincial Legislature around 08:40 on Friday morning. These are the offices of the Gauteng Premier David Makhura.

Robert Mulaudzi, Joburg Emergency Management Services spokesperson, says the fire was high up in the building on the seventh floor which made it very difficult to extinguish.

He confirms that everyone in the building was safely evacuated and that there were no injuries. The fire investigating team is on site busy looking into the cause of the fire, says Mulaudzi.

We are happy that the fire was contained before it could spread to other buildings.

We also want to commend the staff members in that building because they knew exactly what to do in an emergency so that the evacuation process could be as fast as possible.
