Zuma lashes out at 101 ANC stalwarts in policy conference opening salvo

President Jacob Zuma lashed out at the group of 101 ANC stalwarts during his opening address at the ANC National Policy Conference at Nasrec in Johannesburg on Friday.

In fact, he was going off script when he started speaking about the stalwarts. He said they want to dictate to the ANC how to run its business.

The stalwarts detailed a document raising criticisms of the ANC last year.

Zuma referred to their behaviour as 'funny' and said that when calls were made to those on the list many of them distanced themselves from the document.

The president implied that the group was lying about being 101 strong and united behind the call for a consultative conference and for Zuma to step down.
