Zuma questions legitimacy of ANC stalwarts during his ANC policy conference talk

The African National Congress (ANC) is hosting its 5th National Policy Conference.

EWN reporter, Clement Manyathela is covering the conference. Manyathela says the conference will hold discussions of the health of the organisation and the South Africa, as well as organisational renewal. Manyathela goes on to say that the ruling party has invited and will be consulting with faith based organisations, civil rights groups and former ANC National Executive Committee (NEC) members.

Former NEC members such as Frene Ginwala and Sophia de Bruyn were at the conference on Friday when President Jacob Zuma strongly criticised the governing party's stalwarts.

ANC secretary general Gwede Mantashe also briefed the media on Friday on a diagnostic organisational report he presented to delegates. The report reveals that through research conducted by the party, less than 50% of the population was confident about the direction the ANC is headed says Manyathela.

In essence Gwede Mantashe is saying President Jacob Zuma has cost the ANC at the polls.
