Imizamo Yethu residents want answers, disruptions continue

All bus services to Hout Bay are currently suspended due to violent protests in the area.

Residents of Imizamo Yethu say that the city is taking its time to move them back to the area after their homes were engulfed by fire three months ago.

EWN reporter, Shamiela Fisher, says protesters have barricaded roads and there is a huge fire in the middle of the road which they are making sure does not get extinguished.

This is the third day that businesses in the area will not be opened, she says.

They want answers from the city, they want to know when exactly they will be getting houses.

Fisher has confirmed that there hasn't been any communication from the city about what is happening in Imizamo Yethu.

There is currently no access to Hout Bay as traffic officials have closed Victoria Road‚ Hout Bay’s main road.
