We have owned up to our weaknesses and are always under construction - Kodwa

African National Congress (ANC) spokesperson Zizi Kodwa says individuals who use positions of power for self-enrichment should be named and shamed.

Kodwa was speaking to Eusebius McKaiser about the state of the party, as well as “A Diagnostic Organisational Report” released at the start of the party's national policy conference at the weekend.

READ: ANC diagnostic report lacks accountability - analysts

He says the ruling party has not shied away from admitting to challenges faced because of divisions within as well as a decline in ethics.

The report lists twelve problem points within the ANC, including a failure to focus on solutions.

The ANC in terms of organisational design and renewal, it is always under construction there is no point where you can say we have arrived.

Zizi Kodwa, ANC spokesperson

One issue at the core of the allegations made in public about us is that ethical behavior is now being replaced by status....ethical behavior which is part of revolutionary values, we expect from cadres. We are who we are and where we are on behalf of the people of South Africa, not to serve our own interests.

Zizi Kodwa, ANC spokesperson

He says allegations of state capture and corruption cannot be dismissed.

The ANC is incorruptible as an organisation because the ANC is the people, you can't corrupt the entire nation. We must deal with serious allegations of corruption whether in email, state capture or so on. Fortunately there are a few of our cadres who have already confirmed what is in those emails, we must deal even with those who have not confirmed.

Zizi Kodwa, ANC spokesperson
