Absa Bank has announced a three-fold increase in the Barclays Africa Group’s 2017 CEO Scholarship Fund to R210 million.
According to Nandi Scorer, head of customer Cape Region at Absa Bank Limited, this initiative will result in 3000 university students across ten African markets in which they operate, each receiving a scholarship for the current academic year.
In the Western Cape between 2016 and 2017, out of the R210 million, R35 million will go to our four local universities.— Nandi Scorer, head of customer Cape Region at Absa Bank Limited
These four universities will then determine how the money gets allocated to students according to their needs. She says the students don't have to pay the money back.
The criteria is a combination of academic performance and financial needs— Nandi Scorer, head of customer Cape Region at Absa Bank Limited
