Muizenburg residents warned of hammer-wielding couple attacking victims

The community of Muizenberg and surrounding areas have been on alert following a brutal hammer attack on a German tourist last month. A hammer-wielding man together with his female accomplice are the alleged perpetrators.

Concerned Rondebosch resident, Elaine Millam confirms that this is the third attack of its kind since January 2017.

Millam says a professor who was on a visit to South Africa from Canada received a phone call from his wife who was attacked by a couple using a hammer. The attack happened near the beach.

This couple were apparently ahead of her were embracing each other. And as she got level with them, they greeted her and as she passed they attacked her with a hammer.

Fortunately her head was protected by her right arm which she used to protect her head was very badly smashed up, she had five hours of surgery.

Millam says she has noticed that the attacks occur during the week and cannot fathom why there haven't been any warning signs around the areas or why the police haven't be able to catch the attackers.
