Sanef plans to interdict Black First Land First (BLF) after it made numerous threats to journalists, including a picket outside editor Peter Bruce's house and attacks and threats on journalists including Maz du Preez, Adriaan Basson, Tim Cohen and others.

Biko Mutsuarwa, National Communication rights organiser Right2Know speaks to 702's Gugulethu Mhlungu about the importance of safeguarding the rights of journalists the work.

He says the Right2Know Campaign condemns the actions of BLF in the strongest terms.

It is very concerning when you have people that aspire to lead this country violating the rights of the Fourth Estate which is key in a democracy like South Africa.

He says the number of violent attacks on journalists in the first half of this year alone is very alarming.

It is linked to a culture where politicians are deliberately nurturing intolerance, especially against journalists in order to protect their partisan interests.
