SAA marred by lack of good governance says analyst

Finance Minister, Malusi Gigaba has received harsh criticism from economists for giving into the demands of South African Airways (SAA).

Dr Tim London, senior lecturer at the Allan Gray Centre for Values Based Leadership, The Graduate School of Business at UCT spoke to CapeTalk's, Africa Melane about this.

London says there has since been a call for a turnout strategy for the airline as well as a possible recall of SAA chairperson, Dudu Myeni.

There's also been a call for the appointment for a CEO who they feel is competent enough to run the place.

London says the airline needs a turnaround plan that is concrete and finds it mind boggling that there hasn't been one to begin with. He says the problems at SAA are governance issues.

The issue is it shouldn't have gotten to an exceptional nature.

Part of the turnaround strategy may need to involve privatisation of the state owned airline.
