Alexander Forbes board accepts Moses Kgosana's resignation

It is reported that Moses Kgosana has resigned from his position at Alexander Forbes, after being implicated in the #GuptaLeaks Emails.

Kgosana was due to become chairman of Alexander Forbes from 31 August.

It is revealed that Kgosana was CEO and senior partner of KPMG in 2013.

The company is believed to be complicit in allowing the Gupta family's over R30 million lavish sun city wedding bill to be paid for by South African taxpayers in 2013.

All this was revealed in an investigative report by Amabhungane. A journalist with Amabhungane, Craig Mckune, confirms that Moses Kgosana was indeed CEO at KPMG in 2013 and attended the Gupta wedding. He says the emails trails shows that Kgosana had a very cosy relationship with the Guptas.

Group Chief Executive of Alexander Forbes, Andrew Darfoor, says they welcomed a difficult decision made by Kgosana to tender his resignation after he has been with the company since 2015.

For us three things are important - trust, brand and reputation.

Moses indicated to us that he wanted to address these allegations head on and couldn't do say while serving as chairman elect at Alexander Forbes.

It's a very principled decision he took which puts the interest of our clients and shareholders first. It means now we can move forward with clarity and certainty on this matter.

Darfoor says there was no push from the board that led to Kgosana to make this decision. He says Kgosana is a principled man of high integrity and he instigated the decision, the board just simply accepted.

Sello Moloko will remain as chairman of Alexander Forbes until further notice.
