StatPro's flexible work hours helps with staff retention (and happiness)

CEO of StatPro, Craig Arenhold, speaks to CapeTalk's Kieno Kammies about how his company has embraced the concept of decentralisation.

StatPro is a financial services IT company which services local and international asset managers.

Arenhold says the company has made a decision not to spend money on things they can do without, like bigger office space.

I think it helps to be progressive with you staff, you cannot be traditional like it was 10 - 20 years ago.

The important thing is to hire people who can ascribe to your values. You can't hire a guy who doesn't understand responsibilities on an individual to deliver work.

StatPro employees work from home and only report in the office on some Mondays and Fridays.

He says the fact that someone is seated at their desk the whole day doesn't mean that they are actually getting the job done.

Arenhold says he has found that his staff are generally happier and stay with the company longer because of flexible hours.
