Samwu wants proper consultation on in-sourcing of security guards

The South African Municipal Workers Union (Samwu) says that proper consultation needs to take place over the deployment of new Tshwane Metro police who will act as security guards. More than 3 000 guards may be left jobless after the city announced last week that its three-year contract with private security companies won’t be renewed.

Xolani Gwala spoke to Samwu's Mpho Tladinyane.

Issues of restructuring, issues of changing of the services must be properly consulted.

Mpho Tladinyane, Samwu spokesperson

We can’t say that we agree or disagree with the intention of the employer because currently, we don’t know anything, we don’t even have a document.
