The Public Servants Association of SA (PSA) has claimed that viral photos of female dancers entertaining inmates at a Johannesburg prison on Youth Day were manipulated.
We are in possession of the correct photographs and we disagree with the photos placed on social media.— Monica Venter, Provincial Manager at the Public Servants Association
Thirteen officials were investigated and four have so far been suspended after the pictures emerged.
The PSA represents the majority of the suspended Correctional Services officials and claims the images are not an accurate representation of what happened at the event.
PSA provincial manager Monica Venter says the union is in possession of the correct images which depict a professional dance group that is "fully clad in the appropriate, suitable dancing attire [like tights] and not half naked as was alleged."
When asked if the PSA could provide the evidence, Venter said the photographs are sub judice and will not be revealed to avoid jeopardising the pending disciplinary cases.

According to Venter, the PSA does not intend providing the images to the Correctional Services Department.
