Imizamo Yethu community leaders feel let down by the City of Cape Town

Tensions have simmered down and calm has been restored in the informal settlement of Imizamo Yethu in Hout Bay. The area was rocked by service delivery protests since early last Saturday morning.

The City of Cape Town reached out to residents and asked for more time to complete the super-blocking infrastructure.

Eyewitness News reporter, Monique Mortlock confirms that community leaders in Hout Bay are hoping to meet with City of Cape Town, Patrica de Lille to reach a resolution. The community leaders want the super-blocking accelerated and a concise timeline from the mayor about the completion of housing.

One interesting fact that the leaders raised was why did the fast tracking of tender processes not bear any fruit.

Monique Mortlock, Eyewitness News reporter

Mortlock explains that these protests are a culmination of frustration, anger and confusion.
