Tensions have simmered down and calm has been restored in the informal settlement of Imizamo Yethu in Hout Bay. The area was rocked by service delivery protests since early last Saturday morning.
The City of Cape Town reached out to residents and asked for more time to complete the super-blocking infrastructure.
Eyewitness News reporter, Monique Mortlock confirms that community leaders in Hout Bay are hoping to meet with City of Cape Town, Patrica de Lille to reach a resolution. The community leaders want the super-blocking accelerated and a concise timeline from the mayor about the completion of housing.

Mortlock explains that these protests are a culmination of frustration, anger and confusion.

They all agreed that there was not communication between them and the City of Cape Town officials says Mortlock.
