Gupta brothers accused of sexually harassing assistants, paying hush money

Sexual harassment claims are the latest allegations to emerge from the trove of leaked Gupta emails.

Investigative units amaBhungane Centre and Scorpio report that the leaked emails uncovered allegations of harassment by of female personal assistants (PA).

In one alleged incident, Tony Gupta asked his assistant to accompany him on an overnight business trip to Cape Town and she resigned after her first day.

The resignation letter shows her reasons were "due to the circumstances of sexual harassment", reports Daily Maverick journalist Rebecca Davis.

He locked her in a room and told her it was normal for all his PAs to give him massages and sleep in the same bed as him... She suspects that her drink may have been spiked.

In a separate case, another former PA claims all three of the Gupta brothers had attempted to sexually harassed her and silenced her with gifts.

A third PA says she was aware that the Gupta brothers may have given female employees money to stop them from complaining.
