FoodForward provides over 14 million meals a year, and here's how you can help

FoodForward SA partners with major food retailers and manufacturers to collect all their surplus food before it goes to waste and distribute to 600 NGOs nationally.

Managing director at FoodForward SA, Andy Du Plessis, says the 600 NGOs to which they provide food, in turn feed about 250 000 people daily.

We collect about 4.3 million kilogram of food a year which allows us to provide 14.5 million meals.

All the food we get is free. The only cost we incur is to make sure that it is collected from the retailers to our warehouses and we make it is well within date and edible.

About 40% of FoodForward SA beneficiaries take care of children.

As their Mandela initiative, FoodForwardSA is encouraging all businesses and individuals to buy selected items from Pick n Pay nationwide and help feed those in need. This will be on the 14 - 16 July.
