UK-based public relations (PR) firm Bell Pottinger has a long history of crossing ethical lines, says media specialist Tebogo Ditshego.
Bell Pottinger says senior management was misled about work they did for the Gupta-owned firm Oakbay Investments.
The firm apologised to anyone impacted by the work they did for the Gupta-owned company.
However, Ditshego says Bell Pottinger is being disingenuous and has a history of disseminating state propaganda.
They have a long history of doing public relations and communications for various governments across the world and a lot of communication that is a bit of propaganda.— Tebogo Ditshego, Media specialist and CEO of Ditshego Media
He says Bell Pottinger has destroyed their brand and reputation in South Africa, but could still get work elsewhere from clients with nefarious intentions.
Ditshego has cautioned public relations professionals against propaganda and unethical work.
When they ask you to push ethical boundaries you must say no.— Tebogo Ditshego, Media specialist and CEO of Ditshego Media
