Angela Merkel pushes for compact with Africa at G20 summit

Prof John Stremlau, the 2017 Bradlow Fellow at the SA Institute for International Affairs wrote a rather insightful piece about Chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel and her battle with the US in the drive for a compact with Africa.

Goal for G-20 is to create more stable environments for investment, especially in infrastructure development writes Stremlau. He says G-20 leaders will launch a Compact with Africa as the major new initiative of their summit in Hamburg, Germany, on Friday and Saturday.

Stremlau says Merkel will use the initiative to try and remind the world that something as important as Africa can be a subject area for conservative action by foreign states in partnership with and for the continent.,

I hope its true because she's spent a lot effort preparing for the summit discussion and she wants to continue that work while she is president for G-20 in 2017.
