Technobyte: A new cell phone that works sans batteries

Hey Jude is an amazing app that has been developed in South Africa.

It is like no other app I have ever used and I found refreshingly useful and different, says Aki.

Hey Jude helps you to get your ‘To-do list’ done. Think of it as a virtual assistant on your phone, powered by a real person chatting to you via the app. Just tell it whatever you need, where and when you need it, from restaurant bookings, travel, ordering food, finding a product, organising a tradesman, whatever you can think of.

If you are looking for a phone that is almost indestructible then look no further than the Blackview BV6000.

This phone is seriously rugged. It won’t win any fashion awards but if you’re the outdoor type that needs something tough that will withstand the harshest conditions then check out the Blackview smartphone.

It is waterproof, drop proof, dust proof and scratch resistant. If there was a phone for Rambo this would be it! It runs on Android, has very decent specs.

University of Washington engineers have presented the first battery-free cellphone design that consumes only a few micro-watts of power.

The new design can sense speech, actuate the earphones, and switch between uplink and downlink communications, all in real time.

The system developed by researchers from the Allen School of Computer Science & Engineering and the UW Department of Electrical Engineering optimizes transmission and reception of speech while simultaneously harvesting power which enables the battery-free cell phone to operate continuously.
