Nzimande 'betrayed' by Zuma

South African Communist Party (SACP) general secretary Blade Nzimande says the understanding between the African National Congress (ANC) and SACP in 2007 when the communist party backed President Jacob Zuma has been betrayed.

Nzimande was speaking at the the communist party's 14th National Congress in Boksburg on Tuesday.

He delivered the SACP’s political report.

He said that President Jacob Zuma's involvement with the Gupta's and the attempt to capture the state was a betrayal of the alliance but he added that he personally feels betrayed.

As you know the SACP was central to bringing President Jacob Zuma to power... and I think what was interesting yesterday was that this was the first time at the SACP's electoral conference where they have had to deal with their history of bringing Jacob Zuma to power and the campaign and platform on which that process happened, and the party having to do some introspection what its role was.
