NPA says Mmusi Maimane's claims against them are unfounded
National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Luvuyo Mfaku said that Leader of the Democratic Alliance (DA), Mmusi Maimane's allegations against the party are unfair.
This comes after Maimane's request to immediately suspend NPA boss, Advocate Shaun Abrahams for failing to charge Zuma over Nakandla as well as his inaction over the #GuptaLeaks.
Mfaku said that the DA wrote to the NPR in May and June over the Nakandla investigation.
The NPA stated that the matter over the Zuma prosecution was consolidated, as the investigation was still open an under review.
The NPA cannot take action before the investigation is complete, thus according to Mfaku, Maimane's claims of bias and inaction are false.
Mfaku also insists that the NPA has not been silent on the leaked Gupta emails. He says that while the NPA cannot investigate themselves, they engage with the Hawks and guide investigations on matters that are brought to their attention.
