ANC member shot 11 times in what is deemed a political attack

In KwaZulu-Natal, the former secretary general of the African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) Sindiso Magaqa is recovering in hospital after being shot eleven times, on Thursday evening, in an attack he says is linked to political violence in the area.

The ANC's Ndumisani Nthuli says he cannot confirm if this violence is linked to the party's leadership battle.

Ntuli says what concerns them the most is that the attacks are still ongoing months after local government elections, where there may have been conflicts within leadership battles.

It's possible in our view, that the guilty parties could be easily identified through eyewitness accounts or the victims.

Ntuli goes on to say that fingers could either point to some members of the ANC or enemies of the party.

He says they have reached out to the minister of police, Fikile Mbalula, to appoint a high level task team to reinforce the work of the commission of inquiry appointed by the KZN premier.
