Victim of cyber harassment? Know when to take legal action

Victims of cyber harassment have rights and can take legal action against perpetrators.

A young woman has been found guilty on 24 criminal charges relating to Facebook and email activities which can only be described as 'stalking'.

The former candidate attorney has been charged with crimen injuria, fraud, sending out false information on the internet, intimidation, and interception or interference with data.

She advises that the Protection from Harassment Act refers to mental, emotional and psychological harm.

Meanwhile, Parliament has opened the proposed Cybercrime and Cybersecurity Bill for public comment.

It is expected to address cyber crimes in more detail and criminalise a variety of online crimes.
