Magwaza faced death threats and undue pressure: Brown
Political analyst and Talk at Nine host, Karima Brown, says Sassa CEO, Thokozani Magwaza's acceptance of an exit package is not surprising considering former Social Development Director-General, Zane Dangor's challenges.
Both Magwaza and Dangor, Brown explains, tried to get the Department and Sassa itself to comply within the framework of the law to make the grant system workable.
Magwaza was due to testify against the Minister of Social Development, Bathabile Dlamini, in a public inquiry into her role in the Sassa payment scandal.
Magwaza has apparently been the subject of death threats, in connection with his work to end Sassa's contract with Cash Paymaster Services (CPS).
It's clear he was not going along with the Minister's plans to set up parallel structures that would make Minister in charge of grants process which she cannot do as a political head.

Magwaza if the latest in a string of DG's forced out of the state which leads to a capacity deficit while political principles get off scott free.
