Surgeons from the Solihull Hospital in England have removed 27 contact lenses from a woman's eye.
Doctors discovered a "bluish foreign body" under her eyelid which turned out to be a "hard mass" of 17 lenses stuck together with mucus. Ten more lenses were later found.
The woman had apparently worn disposable monthly lenses for 35 years and complained only of a discomfort in her eye which she thought was due to old age.
