Workers employed at the 10111 call centre will be embarking on a strike on Wednesday.
They are demanding that their salary level be upgraded from level 5 to salary level 7, which is R226 211 per annum.
President of the South African Policing union (Sapu), Mpho Kwinika, says the work study done by the police revealed that the 10111 call agents are less paid than their counterparts in the similar field.

Kwinika says they've been trying to negotiate with the employer since 2013 and every year they are told about budget constraints.
He says 10111 call centre agents provide an important and essential service and should be treated as such.

He says Sapu is not asking that workers be moved to salary level 7 immediately, but should be a process that will be completed by the end of 2018.
Kwinika says he spoke to the new acting SAPS Commissioner, Lesetja Mothiba about the strike and he said they can go ahead with the strike because he has contingency plan in place.
