A discussion about smoke breaks in the workplace led to a suggestion that perhaps employees should work for the time taken for smoke breaks after hours. This would mean smokers have extra hours added to their normal working hours depending on how long they spend on smoke breaks.
Another suggestion was that employers should total up the time spent on smoke breaks and deduct it from their salaries at the end of the month.
However, Ashley in Somerset West had a different thought:
