How important is cellphone insurance? Wendy Knowler has the answer

Consumer journalist at The Times, Wendy Knowler, speaks to CapeTalk's Kieno Kammies about available options to keep our cellphones safe.

According to reports, an average smartphone user checks their phone at least 150 times per day.

What happens if you lose your phone or it falls and breaks?

Knowler says a smart thing to do is to ensure that your phone is insured for those unforeseen circumstances.

It is better to insure these things compared to the impact on your life if they are stolen, lost or broken...

Wendy Knowler, Consumer journalist at Times Media

Knowler gives three option to ensure you keep in touch with family and friends without money frustrations:

  • Put away money monthly for when something wrong happens to your phone.

  • Insure your phone through your network provider.

  • Add it under your household content insurance.

The bottom line is that don't do the easy thing and just take what is offered to you because it is convenient and you are in a cellphone store and take a deal that is best for you.
