Trouble in ANC's KZN paradise

The ANC in KwaZulu-Natal has stripped its lower south coast region of its powers as the battle for who will lead the ANC beyond 2019 continues to heat up.

Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa and former chairperson of the African Union, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma are seen as the main contenders.

EWN reporter, Ziyanda Ngcobo says the ANC in KZN has stated that it has been investigating the region since the last local government elections.

It said the branches complained about irregularities with the data base and questioned what constitutes ANC membership.

They are now taking away the lower south coast region executive powers to monitor local government because they failed to (monitor) what represents the ANC and its values.

The lower south coast region, on the other hand, says their support for the ousted chairperson Senzo Mchunu is the main reason KZN ANCF is trying so hard to disband them.

The region has also thrown its weight behind deputy president Cyril Ramaphosa to lead the party after the party's elective conference in December.

So we are seeing factional battles playing themselves out in that lower south coast region.
