Children at unregistered "school", Splendid Kids, will have to repeat the year

Spokesperson for Education MEC Debbie Schafer, Jessica Shelver has confirmed that Splendid Kids in Parow is not registered with the Department.

This follows an inquiry by a concerned educator that the school which operates as a creche, apparently opened up Grade 1 classes this year and is planning to open Grade 2 classes soon.

Shelver says the school was issued with a letter to stop operations until they comply with all regulations.

It is extremely concerning and we are going to ensure that they cease operation by the end of this week.

Shelver says the WCED will be visiting the school with SAPS officials.

According to Shelver any kind of education received at this school will not be recognised, meaning that the learners will have to repeat the same Grade.

The parents have the primary responsibility to ensure that when they enroll a child to a school it is registered with WCED. That they can do on our website.
